The AVA - David Marr Medal

Presentation of Inaugural Award, Dec 2008

The AVA will award, every two years, a medal recognizing the achievements of an outstanding vision scientist in the early part of his or her research career. The award is called the David Marr medal, in memory of one of Britain's most distinguished vision researchers.

The winner of the inaugural 2008 award, for the originality and breadth of his work on colour vision, visual ecology, visual search, attention, subliminal processes and action control was Dr Petroc Sumner from Cardiff University, seen here receiving the award medal and decanter at the Christmas AVA meeting, Bristol, December 2008. 

A call for nominations for the 2010 award will be issued in the autumn 2009.
